Hey there!

About a year ago, Betre and I were sitting in our dimly-lit dining room in Silver Spring, MD at 2 AM in the morning, staring at each other, and wondering what the F* we'd just done.

Anyone with young children can tell you that willingly staying up past midnight is a terrible idea, but we couldn't help it. We had just signed a job offer that would entail moving our family of five —including three small children— thousands of miles away. Away from the comfort of the only 'home' we'd ever known, away from the United States to a new continent, a new life, and a new way of living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during a global pandemic.

All this to say, we might be crazy. Verdict is still out. Meanwhile, we’re here to document the journey and share it with you.
